Abstract

Assessment of the resource potential of mountain tourism in Ukraine. The relevance of the study lies in the need to assess the resource potential of mountain tourism in Ukraine. Purpose and methods of research. The aim of the study is to analyze approaches to determine the categories of complexity of mountain tourist sports routes, current classifications of mountain tourist obstacles and assess the tourist and sports opportunities of the mountains of Ukraine. The study is based on regional analysis and assessment of the functioning of the mountain sports tourism system. To assess the resource potential of mountain sports tourism in Ukraine, the reference, comparative-geographical, cartographic method and the method of field expeditionary research were used. Results of work and conclusions. Mountain tourism in Ukraine has a limited resource base – mountain sports trips are possible up to the second category of difficulty out of 6 possible. After all, the mountain systems of Ukraine – the Carpathians and the Crimean Mountains – although they belong to the mountains of alpine folding at the time of mountain formation, but belong to the medium-altitude mountains and have absolute heights below the snow line, ie can not be considered classic areas for hiking. It was believed that mountaineering here is possible only in winter and early spring, when there are seasonal natural conditions that meet the requirements for areas of mountaineering. It is determined that the inclusion of mountain obstacles in overcoming mountain traverses and ascents to the peaks provides additional opportunities. It also expands the seasonal possibilities of mountain tourism by including classified local local obstacles in the Ukrainian Carpathians in the summer – 47 passes and traverses with difficulty category up to 1B* have been explored and described. The categorization of mountainous Crimea passes has a significant potential. Thus, M. Zakaldayev identified more than 800 crossing saddles and corridors of the Crimea, among which 155 are defined as categorical – from 1A to 2B difficulty categories (and this is the level of mountain hikes of the IV complexity category)
