Abstract

Introduction. Based on the analysis of scientific and methodological literature, advanced and practical experience, the article studies the usage of the Ukrainian folk moving games and their impact on the formation of senior pupils’ national consciousness in the conditions of the armed and information aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The research highlights the necessity of acquiring a systematic and straightforward national education based on the cultural and historical experience of native people, their centuries-old traditions, customs and mentality. The research topicality. It is essential to study the peculiarities of national traditions of physical education and the possibilities of their implementations in the learning environment of the youth, as the fundamental factor in building civil society and democracy is the national consciousness of their citizens. The main aim is to substantiate the positive effect of folk moving games in forming senior pupils’ national consciousness. Methods of the study include analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observation, questionnaire, and method of mathematical statistics. Results. The scientific paper states that national traditions of physical education are realized due to historical, theoretical, and methodological directions. The structure of the national consciousness comprises political, emotional and valuable, motivational, activity- and practice-based components. During our research, we determined three stages of forming pupils’ general education. The formation of the national consciousness occurs due to the folk-moving games. They are a universal means of comprehensive education of the youth, as they reflect the national lifestyle, work, traditions of the people, and the idea of courage, honesty, and dignity of the person. Conclusions. The scientific paper substantiates the pedagogical conditions of forming the senior pupils’ national consciousness. The national traditions, customs, and rituals are crucial in forming the national youth consciousness, feelings of loyalty, love for the Motherland, and readiness to defend it
