Abstract
Introduction. In martial arts, physical fitness is considered as the main characteristic of the functional integral state of the organism. The purpose of the work is to check the effectiveness of the sets of exercises aimed at the development of physical qualities of sumo students. Research methods: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodical literature; method of determining physical fitness, pedagogical experiment; methods of mathematical statistics. Students (12 people) who practice sumo at the base of Hrigoriy Skovoroda University in Pereyaslav took part in the study. The results. As a result of a thorough theoretical analysis, complexes of exercises aimed at developing the physical qualities of sumo wrestlers were chosen, which were proposed by V. Andriitsev. These complexes were adapted in accordance with the individual characteristics of students engaged in sumo. Complexes of exercises for learning and improving the technique of attack and defense techniques with pedagogical tasks for the development of coordination, accuracy, speed, timeliness of actions, variable execution of techniques in interaction with a partner (coach). Special exercises were also included in these complexes: Syko, Suriashi, Matavari, Tepp, Butsukari, Geiko. Conclusions. At the end of the experiment, retesting made it possible to determine the influence of the selected sets of exercises on the level of development of physical qualities of students engaged in sumo: the indicators of long jump from a standing position, pull-ups on the crossbar changed from a below average level to an average level, indicators of rope climbing increased from low to an average level, indicators of running around the head and flips from a head butt into the carpet to a «wrestler's bridge» and in the opposite direction – from a low level to a level below average. A statistically significant increase in the investigated indicators of the development of physical qualities was revealed
