Abstract
Introduction. In recent years, new requirements have been put forward for the morphofunctional state of the body of women, so physical exercises with a health-improving orientation are becoming more and more popular. Domestic and foreign experience of physical culture and healthimproving work with different segments of the population shows that the most popular among women are classes in various types of health-improving gymnastics. One of these areas of recovery is Pilates, which experts refer to as mental fitness. Pilates classes are aimed at maintaining the optimal level of development of physical qualities, achieving internal balance, improving well-being and the psychoemotional state of the female body. The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of Pilates classes on the morpho-functional state of women of the second mature age. Research methods: scientific literature analysis; sociological methods (survey, conversations, questioning); pedagogical methods (pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment); physiometric and methods of mathematical statistics. Research results. Taking into account the peculiarities of the psychophysical state of women of the second mature age, Pilates classes in the experimental group were carried out in the following areas: Pilates training on the floor; training with special equipment. During all four stages of experimental work, the basic principles of Pilates were strictly adhered to: proper breathing; concentration; retention of the Center; accuracy and control; smoothness and grace; isolation, relaxation; regularity. Conclusions. The application of the experimental methodology led to a statistically significant (p≤0.05) improvement in most of the morphological and functional parameters of the main body systems of women of the second mature age of the experimental group. Positive changes were received by such morphological signs of the physique of women as body weight, waist and hip coverage, as well as functional indicators of heart rate, Stange and Genchi tests, and physical performance
