Abstract
Summary. One of the strategic objectives of the education system is the formation of a person with a high level of environmental culture, and the primary school age is an important period for this. The relevance of the study is due to the need to substantiate the approaches to the development of a system for the monitoring of environmental culture development in primary school students together with their physical condition improvement during extracurricular physical education activities. The aim was to develop the structure and content of the monitoring system to develop the environmental culture in primary school students and to improve their physical condition. Methods: theoretical analysis of special scientific and methodological literature, anthropometric, physiological, pedagogical, and sociological methods, methods of mathematical statistics. Results. The structure and content of the system for monitoring of environmental culture in the extracurricular physical education activities were developed, which included the evaluation of environmental awareness, the level of adaptation and reserve capacity, physical activity, and physical health in primary school students. Based on the monitoring results, its components were assessed in children of primary school age. The obtained results create the basis for the development of a program of extracurricular activities including the means of environmental hiking. Conclusions. The data of the ascertaining experiment indicate the potential opportunities of primary school education to form environmentally sound behaviors in children
