Abstract

Introduction. The city of Kamianets-Podilskyi with its unique resource base for the development of various directions of tourism receives a lot of attention in touristic, geographical and historical literature, however, this does not refer to the characteristics of its medieval fortifications with the opportunities for the development of military and volunteer tourism in the conditions of Russian aggression and the revival of the industry after the victory The aim of the study. To reveal the problems and possibilities of the development of tourism in the conditions of Russian aggression and directions of the revival of the industry in Ukraine after the victory – on the example of volunteer tourism in the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi. Research methods included the collection of information, its analysis and synthesis in order to determine the problems and opportunities for the development of the tourism industry in Ukraine in the conditions of Russian aggression and outline specific directions for the revival of tourism in the regions of Ukraine after the victory (using the example of volunteer tourism in the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi). Research results. The resource base of the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi and its surroundings for the development of military tourism is characterized. The possible directions of the development of the tourism industry of Ukraine in the conditions of martial law due to Russian aggression are determined, among them – volunteer tourism based on various tourist resources of southern Podillia and opportunities to attract students of the city's higher education institutions, primarily of a tourist profile, to excursion practice in the course of a volunteer approach to tourism activities. The current directions for the revival of tourism in the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi after the victory have been outlined, indicating the problematic issues of the tourism business that require urgent action now. Conclusions. Russian aggression against Ukraine and the martial law introduced as a result caused major problems in the development of the tourism industry, including tourism itself and the hotel and restaurant business. But even in these very difficult conditions, Ukrainian tourism is still looking for ways to survive now and revive after the victory. Volunteer tourism has become one of such directions of tourism, which has become extremely relevant in the conditions of martial law in Ukraine and the movement of a significant mass of the population (forcefully displaced persons), mainly from the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine, to the western Ukrainian regions and their cities, towns, and villages. Its essence is to acquaint refugees with the tourist attractions of those settlements, where fate has led them, on a free basis. At the same time, we note that, as follows from the theories of international tourism business, each settlement has its absolute tourist advantages, that is, a unique resource base for the development of tourism and recreation, which distinguishes it from other settlements. These absolute advantages can be of different scales, have international, domestic (national), regional or local value. But they definitely exist and are of great interest, especially for people who have visited a certain area, city, village, etc. for the first time. It is volunteer tourism that makes it possible to collect and concentrate this knowledge, primarily through the efforts of teachers and students of local educational institutions (universities, colleges, vocational schools of the tourism profile) and to offer a tourism and excursion product formed in this way in accordance with the demand from forcibly displaced persons (and it is). The directions of further development of Ukrainian tourism after the victory differ by region. It was determined that in the case of the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, urgent action is required to improve the comfort of the city for tourists, its cleanliness (it has its own identity and design), in particular, the convenience of pedestrians. At the same time, the practice of placing small hotels, restaurants and cafes in historical buildings should be continued, of course, with the obligation of the owners to maintain the historical objects in good condition
